FitDistrict’s founder and chief visionary officer, Catherine Ford, is an unstoppable, intelligent, savvy, enthusiastic, and resilient force storming the health and wellness industry after spending many years as a Certified Financial PlannerTM in the corporate world. Upon her university completion, she quickly climbed the ranks to become an extremely successful businesswoman assisting her clients all across the country. In her busy life over the years, Catherine wanted a place that brought together her favorite group fitness classes and healthy, delicious food to make her day-to-day fitness and eating goals easier to accomplish…and the idea of FitDistrict was born… and soon became a burning desire for Catherine to open to help other people accomplish their goals as well! Her ideas for the culture of the company stem from her true passion to create an experience that helps people feel empowered, stronger, energized, and joyful in a space that exudes an energy of community and belonging. Catherine believes that these are the ingredients for people to live their dreams!
A one-stop-shop for a workout and a post-workout meal is gearing up to open in the former Ray’s the Steaks location in Courthouse.
The forthcoming gym-café, FitDistrict, will have a little bit of everything: studios for hot yoga, cycling and interval training classes, and a diverse menu ranging from wheatgrass shots to healthified comfort classics, like shepherd’s pie.
“This has been a dream in the making for a long time,” says owner and founder Catherine Ford, who is also an Arlington resident.
Construction began about two weeks ago on the approximately 7,500-square foot space in the Navy League building at 2300 Wilson Blvd. It housed the iconic, no-frills steakhouse until that closed in 2019.
She expects to open the gym and restaurant at the same time in July.
“We’re all so busy and we are all are craving belonging and community — now more than ever — so it’s going to be fitness and food, but it’s about belonging and community,” she said. “Our tagline is ‘feel good here,’ because that’s what it’s about.” ]She expects to open the gym and restaurant at the same time in July.

FitDistrict is a nearly 7,500 square foot, first of its kind fitness and nutritious (quick service) restaurant experience designed to meet your healthy living needs all under one roof. Come enjoy a variety of instructor-led fitness classes running all day in Studios, which houses three distinct, state of the art Fitness Studios offering Interval, Yoga and Cycling classes, before stopping by the Energy Cafe to enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal and smoothie on the go.

Classes offered at FitDistrict Studios include interval, heated yoga, and cycling. There are

The variety allows you to meet all of your fitness needs in one location. “Oftentimes people have memberships at multiple fitness centers, which can add up quickly. Our idea was to streamline this for the customer, saving them both time and money,” said Ford. “Likewise, our Energy Cafe will offer delicious healthy meals fast, under the same roof as Studios, optimizing convenience and saving time.” Options at the Energy Cafe will meet a variety of eating plans and healthy eating lifestyles so that there is something for everyone, from the vegan to the paleo to the meat and potato person.
